Barnetts Art Glass Paintings By Michael and Lynne Barnett
What are "Art Glass Paintings"??? Art Glass Paintings are "Paintings" created from hundreds, or thousands of pieces of broken glass, arranged just right to create an image. In this case, a rendition of Van Gogh's famous painting, "Starry Night.". Glass Paintings are very much like stained glass, however, unlike stained glass, there is no leading or solder to interfere with light transmission. In other words, there is nothing to block the light going through the piece. Additionally, unlike traditional stained glass works, glass paintings can utilize the smallest pieces of glass without any loss of surface area. Regular stained glass must be soldered into the piece, and that causes a loss of the visual area of each piece of glass due to the fact that the copper tape has to wrap around the edges of each piece of glass. Unlike stained glass, Glass Paintings are totally translucent.
